Signs of a refrigerant leak
Reduced cooling, ice forming on the suction line or evaporator, the unit running non-stop, higher bills, and sometimes a faint hiss near the pipework or a bubbling sound. Leaks commonly occur at flare joints, corroded coils and valves.
Why top-ups don't last
Adding gas without repairing the leak just delays the problem — the new charge leaks out too, cooling fades again, and running low stresses the compressor. It also wastes refrigerant and money.
