Many split ACs in Qatar can heat via a reverse-cycle (heat-pump) mode. If it blows cold on Heat, the causes are usually the wrong mode/setpoint, low refrigerant, a stuck reversing valve, a defrost cycle, or a faulty sensor. Note: not every unit has a heat mode — cooling-only models can't heat.
Check the mode first
Confirm the remote is set to Heat (sun symbol), the setpoint is above room temperature, and the unit actually supports heating. Cooling-only models will never produce warm air.
Heat-pump specific faults
A stuck reversing valve leaves the unit in cooling mode; low refrigerant weakens heat output; and a failed outdoor sensor can stop the heat cycle. The unit may also pause on a normal defrost cycle for a few minutes.
Safe checks
Give it 10–15 minutes to build heat, clean the filter, and make sure the outdoor unit is clear. Persistent cold air on Heat needs a technician.
How AGM fixes it
We test the reversing valve, refrigerant charge and sensors, and repair or replace the faulty part. If you need reliable winter heating, we can advise on the right heat-pump or supplementary heating solution.
Frequently asked questions
Many split units have a reverse-cycle heat-pump mode that provides warm air, useful on cold winter nights. Cooling-only models cannot heat.
Often the wrong setting, low refrigerant, a stuck reversing valve, or a defrost cycle. It can also simply be a cooling-only unit that has no heat function.
It's the component that switches a heat pump between cooling and heating by reversing refrigerant flow. If it sticks, the unit stays in cooling and blows cold on Heat.
Yes. AGM diagnoses reversing-valve, refrigerant and sensor faults and restores heating, or advises on a suitable heat-pump upgrade.
